Nuclear

Too close to home

This is Faslane. Just 30 miles from Glasgow, sits all of the United Kingdoms operational nuclear warheads. No other nuclear-armed state keeps its weapons this close to such a dense civilian population. Travel along the Clyde to learn more!

Who is in charge?

Scotland hosts the weapons, lives with the danger of a nuclear leak or accident, and would be hit first in any nuclear exchange, yet key decisions are made by the UN, or USA. Reclaim Our Clyde exists to challenge this, demanding a safer, nuclear weapon free Scotland.

Billions for bombs

Trident is set to cost over £200 billion pounds in its lifetime. Money that could fund hospitals, schools, housing, climate solutions or supporting families struggling through the current cost of living crisis.

What if something goes wrong?

If a nuclear accident happened at Faslane, the consequences would be felt immediately. The initial blast and heat effects would cause widespread destruction within seconds, followed by devastating radioactive contamination affecting air, water, and land across the central belt. Emergency response capacity would be overwhelmed, and large areas could become uninhabitable for years to come. If a nuclear explosion had happened when you began reading this page, you would already be dead.
